Sen. Frerichs said he was excited to meet with his constituents, "As my first session in Springfield starts I want to make sure that I stay close to the hard working people of East Central Illinois. That is why I am looking forward to meeting with anyone who wants to stop by and grab a bite to eat or a cup of coffee and let me hear about their concerns regarding any number of issues. The best way to represent the people is to listen to the people, and I anticipate a lively conversation at all my stops."

One issue that will be sure to be brought up is the rise in the cost of electricity. Sen. Frerichs commented on the increase in people's power bills saying, "With 2007's first electric bills hitting mailboxes this month, my office has been inundated with letters and calls from constituents regarding the outrageous increases they've seen in their power bills. I hope that anyone who has the time can come and meet me and bring their bills so that I can take their stories back to Springfield and help make the case that Ameren's excessive profits at the expense of middle class families is not right. Action must be taken and it must be taken this session to provide relief for consumers before the upcoming summer usage spike."
