Springfield, IL - State Senator Michael Frerichs (D-Champaign) will be giving out energy efficient light bulbs during his "Meet with Mike" stops next week. At "Meet with Mike" events, constituents will have the opportunity to discuss local and state issues with the Senator. Frerichs has already given energy efficient light bulbs to Parkland Community College and Danville Area Community College and more will be given to senior centers in the district.
"These events are a chance for anyone to ask me questions about Springfield, tell me their concerns, and receive a free energy efficient
light bulb," said Senator Frerichs. "These light bulbs really do represent a win-win situation. When you replace older incandescent light bulbs with energy efficient ones, you lower your energy bill and help save our environment."
If every American home changed one incandescent bulb with a compact fluorescent one, it would save $600 million in energy costs and prevent greenhouse gases equivalent to the emissions of over 800,000 cars.
Senator Frerichs will be holding traveling office hours from Tuesday, January 15th through Thursday, January 24th. He is also regularly available at his district offices in Danville and Champaign when the Senate is not in session in Springfield.
"I hope to meet with a lot of people at these events, because traveling office hours are a great way to learn what issues are really on their minds," said Senator Frerichs.
