Illinois' 52nd State Senate District is located in East Central Illinois and includes parts of Champaign and Vermilion Counties. In Champaign County the major population centers are the twin cities of Champaign-Urbana, and the city of Rantoul to their north. Also in Champaign County are the communities of: Broadlands, Gifford, Homer, Longview, Penfield, Philo, Sidney, St. Joseph, Royal, and Savoy, and Thomasboro.

In Vermilion County, the major population center is located in the city of Danville, the county seat. Other communities within District 52 that are in Vermilion County are: Allerton, Alvin, Armstrong, Belgium, Bismarck, Catlin, Collision, Fairmount, Fithian, Georgetown, Henning, Indianola, Jamaica, Muncie, Oakwood, Potomac, Ridge Farm, Sidell, Tilton, and Westville.
